One of my clients once looked in the mirror mid-set and said, “I don’t want long lashes… I want full lashes.” And honestly? That sentence sums up volume lashes perfectly.
If you’re a lash artist, you already know the difference a well-built volume set can make. Fuller lash lines. Softer density. That fluffy, velvety finish clients can’t stop touching. If you’re here to understand, master, or upgrade your volume lash extensions, you’re in the right place.
Volume lashes are a lash extension technique where a handmade fan of multiple ultra-fine extensions is applied to a single natural lash. The number of fibres in each fan can range from 2D (two fibres) to higher dimensions such as 6D, 10D, or more, depending on the desired density and the client’s natural lash strength.
Unlike classic lashes, which attach one thicker extension to one natural lash, volume lashes distribute the weight across several extremely lightweight fibres. This even weight distribution allows for a fuller, more dramatic result without placing excessive stress on the natural lash.
Professional volume sets use very fine diameters, typically 0.03mm, 0.05mm, or 0.07mm. These thin fibres enable dense, fluffy fans while maintaining lash health and retention when selected correctly.
When applied properly, volume lashes create a soft, airy, and seamless finish. The result should look fluffy and full with a smooth, diffused appearance - not heavy, stiff, or spiky. That balanced combination of density and lightness defines true professional volume lash extensions.

Because volume uses multiple lightweight fibres, it provides greater fullness. If a client has gaps or naturally sparse lashes, classic extensions will simply make each lash longer, but the gaps will still be visible. Volume lashes can fill those gaps and create a more even, dense lash line.
Volume lashes allow artists to reshape the look of the eyes. For example:
Classic lashes enhance what’s already there. Volume lashes can enhance and correct.
A volume fan is created using multiple ultra-fine, lightweight fibres. Even though several fibres are attached to one natural lash, their combined weight can actually be lighter than a single thick classic extension.
When volume lashes are properly chosen and correctly applied:
In contrast, classic lashes use a single fibre. If that fibre is too thick or too heavy for the client’s natural lash, all the weight sits in one point. This can cause tension, twisting, or premature shedding. Well-executed volume lashes are often safer than poorly chosen classic lashes.

For bold, high-impact results, Mega Volume is the go-to style. Using 0.05 volume lashes, you can build larger fans that create intense density while maintaining flexibility and softness. The lightweight fibre structure allows you to achieve an ultra-black, dramatic finish without stiffness or overloading the natural lashes. This type of eyelash extensions suits clients who love statement lashes and maximum fullness.

Mega Volume is the ideal choice for bold, high-impact lashes
By mixing lengths from our volume lash mix trays, you can create textured, multi-dimensional sets that combine soft density with defined spikes. This technique layers shorter volume fans with strategically placed longer lashes to create movement and dimension. These styles are especially popular with clients who want dramatic lashes that still feel airy and lightweight.

When working with volume lashes, the diameter determines how large your fans can be while keeping the natural lash safe.
- 0.07 volume lashes are slightly thicker than 0.05 but still lightweight enough for volume application. They fan easily, making them ideal for newer artists or those who want faster, more consistent results.
If your goal is soft to medium density volume lashes with efficiency and reliability, 0.07 is a strong choice.
- 0.05 volume lashes are thinner and lighter, allowing you to build larger fans safely:
If you want dramatic, high-density volume lashes without overloading the natural lash, 0.05 offers more flexibility.
Curl selection directly affects lift and eye shape.
C and CC Curl
D and DD Curl
If a client’s natural lashes grow straight or downward, choosing a stronger curl (like D or DD) helps maintain lift throughout the set. Without enough curl strength, even full volume lashes can appear heavy or droopy.
Volume lash application involves attaching a handmade or premade fan (typically 2D–6D) made from ultra-fine extensions (0.03–0.07mm) to one isolated natural lash. Precision, cleanliness, and correct placement are essential for safety and retention.
Clean the natural lashes thoroughly using an oil-free lash cleanser to remove makeup, oil, and residue. Apply a lash primer to improve adhesive bonding. Place eye pads or lash tape to separate the top and bottom lashes and secure the lower lashes comfortably.
Create a clear lash map directly on the eye pads. Mark your chosen style (such as doll eye or cat eye) to guide length placement, curl selection, and overall structure before starting application.
Using precision lash extension tweezers, pick up 2–6 ultra-fine extensions from the strip. Gently spread the fibres into a symmetrical fan, ensuring the bases stay connected and aligned. (If using premade fans, select the correct size and check the base before application.)
Dip only the base of the fan into adhesive. Use a minimal amount to avoid excess lash glue or bulky attachment points. The base should appear slim and clean, not coated.
Isolate one healthy natural lash using isolation tweezers. Attach the fan approximately 0.5–1mm away from the eyelid to prevent irritation and ensure proper bonding. The fan should sit flush against the natural lash for maximum retention.
Hold the fan in place briefly to allow the adhesive to grip. Ensure the base is wrapped and aligned correctly with the natural lash.
Once the set is complete, lightly cure the adhesive using a nano mister if desired. Gently brush through the lashes with a clean spoolie. Carefully check for and separate any “stickies” (lashes accidentally bonded together) to ensure comfort and healthy lash growth.
Proper technique at every step ensures safe, fluffy, and long-lasting volume results.

Complete guide to Volume Lash application
The first two days are critical for long-term retention.
Clean lashes last longer. Skipping cleansing leads to oil buildup, poor retention, and potential irritation.
Certain habits can weaken the adhesive or damage the fans.

LASHESBYRK volume lashes are designed with a deep laser-matte finish that removes the shiny, plastic appearance often seen in lower-quality lashes. Instead of reflecting light, the fibres absorb it, creating a richer, darker black. On the eye, this results in a denser, more refined finish. Clients often notice that the set looks “softer but fuller”, even if they can’t immediately explain why.
The fibre structure is soft and flexible, allowing volume lashes to open smoothly whether you’re using the pinch method or fanning directly on the strip. The lash bases spread evenly without sticking or collapsing, giving you better control and cleaner fans. This means faster application time, more consistent results, and less hand fatigue, especially during back-to-back appointments.
Each fibre is carefully weight-balanced to support high-D fans. Even 10D+ volume lashes can be created safely when proper diameter selection and technique are used. The goal is always maximum density without overloading the natural lash. Healthy natural lashes come first, no compromises.
In short, LASHESBYRK volume lashes combine appearance, performance, and safety, which is why experienced artists rely on them for consistent, high-level results.
“I switched to LASHESBYRK volume lashes after struggling with fans collapsing mid-set. The difference was instant. Easier fanning, better retention, and my clients keep asking what I changed.”
Sarah, Melbourne Lash Artist
“I’ve tried so many brands, but nothing compares. My mega volume sets feel lighter and my clients notice less shedding.”
Jess, Sydney Salon Owner
It depends on the client. Hybrid lashes are ideal for clients who want a balanced, textured look with a soft, fluffy finish that feels versatile and wearable for everyday life. In contrast, volume lashes are better suited for those who prefer a fuller, more uniform and dramatic appearance with stronger density. Hybrid works well for moderate, daily fullness, while volume is the better choice for high-glam styles or clients who want noticeably thicker, bolder lashes.
Yes. Our 0.05 volume lashes are specifically designed for creating high-D and mega volume fans. Because each fibre is ultra-fine and lightweight, you can build larger fans while keeping the total weight safe for the natural lash. This allows artists to achieve intense density and a deep, dark finish without adding stiffness or causing strain. When paired with proper technique and correct lash assessment, they are fully suitable for professional mega volume artistry.
Volume lash trays typically range from 7mm to 20mm in length and are available in both single-length trays and mixed-length trays (such as 8–14mm or 8–15mm) for flexible lash mapping. Designed for safe fan creation, volume diameters are ultra-fine, commonly including 0.03mm, 0.04mm, 0.05mm, 0.06mm, and 0.07mm, with most trays containing 12–16 rows. We offer both single and mix trays to suit different styling preferences and streamline your workflow.
Volume lashes do not damage natural lashes when they are applied correctly by a trained professional who selects the proper diameter, length, and fan size based on the strength of the natural lash. Damage, such as breakage or premature shedding, typically happens when extensions are too heavy, isolation is poor (causing lashes to stick together), or proper aftercare is not followed.
To keep your volume lash set fluffy and well-shaped, cleanse them daily with an oil-free lash cleanser and gently brush through with a clean spoolie twice a day to keep the fans separated. Avoid oils, heavy creams, and water exposure for the first 24 hours after application. Try to sleep on your back to prevent crushing the lashes, and book infill appointments every 2–3 weeks to maintain fullness.
